Muthaia Murlidharan created a new history by taking 800 wickets in international test cricket match at Galle Stadium and with this; he became the first and only bowler in the history of test cricket to touch the milestone of 800 wickets in his career. And it is almost impossible to touch this for any other cricketer.
Before the match, there were 792 wickets on his name and he was in need of 8 wickets to reach to 800. In the first inning of the match, he took 5 wickets and increased the number from 792 to 797.
He sent 5 persons to pavilion in first innings (5-63) and 3 in next innings (3-128) to give his career a perfect finish. Indian cricketer Pragyan Ojha also became the part of this history. He was the last cricketer to be sent to Pavilion by Muthaia Murlidharan.
Sachin Tendulkar was his 793rd batsman that was sent to pavilion. Over all, he took 8 wickets in the match. And with the help of his 8 wickets, Sri Lanka won the first test match which was againstIndia.
