DSS, Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa created a history when 5 of their followers married sex-workers on the holy birthday of second GuruJi of DSS, Param Pita Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj, 25 January. All the 5 marriages took place in the presence of their spiritual master Hazoor Maharaj Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan. Saint Ji blessed all the 5 couples and prayed to God for their happiness. Saint Ji gave cheques of 25k INR to each married couple. Saint Ji honored those prostitutes as ‘Shubh-Devis’ and their husbands as ‘Bhakt-Yodhas’. Me sorry, those aren’t prostitutes now. The identities of both bride and bridegrooms were kept secret so that no one can further tease them. Saint Ji said that these girls are cured by doctors and also given household-education of how to behave in the society so that they can live their lives now happily. One of the Shubh-Devi said that she was forced to join this profession and is now very happy on her marriage. She said that it’s an unpredictable and even unthoughtable dream for her. She said that Saint Ji is treating all of them as their own daughters. The bridegroom families even donated money for the poor and needy on this occasion. The family-members also took written pledge to donate their eyes to blind after their deaths.

At the time when Saint Ji asked the youth to come forward and marry sex-workers, some people made fun of this movement as according to them no man will marry any sex-worker but SaintJi has proved what he said.

On this 25 January 2010, 1 crore 17 lakh people(around 12 million) from all over the world came to Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa to participate in this Holy BirthDay. During 2009, the count was 1 crore(10 million) and in 2008, it was around 35 lakhs.
