Today on 30 April 2011, Saturday, Leader of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen group and Andhra Pradesh Legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi got injured in an open firing.
The incident took place in the morning around 11:30 am when MIM leader was visiting Chandrayangutta Assembly Constituency in Hyderabad’s old city. He had a meeting in Barkas neighborhood. He came out from the meeting and was getting into his car, when suddenly 4 or 5 persons came and attacked Akbaruddin with open sharp knives. When he tried to escape and started driving, those persons started firing.
His party’s colleague and Legislator Balala rushed to save him but they were also hit by the attackers.

Hundreds of MIM supporters along with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy rushed to the hospital to see if Andhra Pradesh Legislator is safe.
