MF Husain – Picasso Of India Dies In London Hospital At 95

India’s one of the famous artists MF Husain, called as Picasso Of India, died at the age of 95 in London.

He suffered from the fluid in his lungs and was being treated in the London Hospital.

Husain used to make the pictures of Hindu Gods. The Hindu people did not like his paintings and went against him. There went talkings regarding killing of this artist. So, he left India in 2006.

Maqbool Fida Husain, in his entire life, painted around 25,000 works.

Husain was born on 17 September 1915. He earned a good faith on basis of his paintings. Forbes Magazine regarded him as the ‘Picaso Of India’.

MF entered Mumbai in 1935 in search of work and made the billboard for Devdas of K.L. Saigal.

He designed various movies invites. Some of these example films are Heena, Gaja Gamini, and Meenaxi. He also designed the invite for Juhi Babbar’s wedding, who is the daughter of Actress Nadira and Actor Raj Babbar.

The controversies against him rose in 1996 about some of the paintings that he did in 1970s. Due to death fear, he left his own country India in 2006.

Gopal Adivrekar, the senior Hindu Artist and the former President of Bombay Art Society said that there’s nothing wrong in being creative and creating any art but if it hurts anyone’s sentiments and that too of a particular section of a society then art should not be made.

He joined Progressive Artists Group in 1947. His first solo exhibition was held in 1952 in Zurich and then he showcased his work in United States and Europe.

The Indian government gave him the ‘Padma Shri’ Award in 1955.

His first movie was ‘Through The Eyes Of Painter’, which was shown at Film Festival of Berlin.

The Peabody Essex Museum, Massachusetts, United States showed an exhibition from Nov 4, 2006 to June 3, 2007 that featured Maqbool Fida’s art, which was inspired by the great Hindu epos, Mahabharata.

He got 1.6 million dollars for ‘Mahabharata: The Battle of Ganga and Jamuna’ that was sold in 2008 at a Christie’s auction. It set a World record at Christie Art. He became the costly painter in India.

He was listed in the Top 500 Most Influential Muslims of the World. The list was compiled in Amman, Jordan by Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center.

When at 92 years of age, he got famous Raja Ravi Varma honor by Kerala govt., it arose another controversy against him in India. The main place of argument was Kerala itself, where some of the cultural organizations raised their voice against this government act. Later an interim order was granted by High Court to stay the honor-granting, till the disposal of filed petition by Kerala Cultural Organizations.

Qatar offered him the citizenship of their country in January 2010.

He wanted to live in the ending days in his own country India but feared coming there so that Hindu hardliners may not kill him. He passed his last days jointly in England and Dubai, living some days in Dubai and then London.

On 9 June 2011, Thursday, the famous artist said good bye to this world and took his last breath in the London Hospital.
